Want to make sure you don’t miss a post on Spanking Storybook?  Subscribing to our RSS feed will keep you up to date.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. You use RSS to syndicate or subscribe to the feed of a blog or website.  This means you don’t have to visit the website to check for the latest content.  Instead, you use a feed reader to read the latest articles.  The feed reader collects all the latest content from your favorite sites in one place for you to read when you wish.  You no longer have to go visit each site.  Feed readers are a much more efficient way to stay up to date with your favorite websites.

Feed readers can either be software on your computer or web-based feed reading.  To use the software, you need to be on the computer where you installed the software to check your feeds.  With a web-based program, you can check your feeds anywhere you have internet access.  There are lots of software programs and web-based feed readers to choose from online.  I use Newsgator, and I have also tried Google Reader and Bloglines.  RSSOwl is a software program, and a Google search for “RSS reader” will give you  many more options.

Once you have a RSS feed reader, you just need to subscribe to the feeds of your favorite sites.  For example, to subscribe to this site, you would copy and paste the link from the orange RSS button at the top right corner of the page into your feed reader (right-click and “copy link location” in Firefox).  Most feed readers have an option to “Add a Feed.”  All blogs have an RSS feed and many websites as well.  You can even subscribe to podcast audio files.

Now that you know about RSS feeds, copy and paste the feed from the orange button into a feed reader of your choice and never miss the latest content from Spanking Storybook.  Remember you can also choose to subscribe by email if you don’t want to use an RSS feed reader.

Yes, it’s Friday!  I subscribe to a number of RSS feeds (If I told you how many you wouldn’t believe me. Think 3 figures.)  I do this to stay in touch with different niches for my sites.  Spanking is only one of my niches.  The most fun one though.  So, late last night I’m getting ready to sign out and up pops a “Fantasy Friday” post.  What, but it’s only Thursday. Well, technically it was Friday already in some places.  Apparently, PK of New Beginnings believes in being right on time.

It seems Fantasy Fridays began with another blogger and was taken over by PK at New Beginnings when that blogger stopped updating her site.   The idea has caught on, and other spanking bloggers are having a Fantasy Friday as well (see my post on Thomas’s Fantasy Fridays ).  You may want to subscribe to those blogs or at least bookmark them for some great Friday spanking reading.

New Beginnings takes submissions from other bloggers for her Fantasy Friday spanking stories.  Then she lets her readers guess who wrote the story by voting on a poll with several choices (it gives a nice backlink to your site for those spanking writers who might want to contribute).  She does reveal who wrote the story in a later post.

One thing I really found unique about PK’s story postings is her use of graphics.  She does an awesome job of adding small pictures throughout the story.   No, they are not all spanking pictures, but some are.  You can tell she really puts some thought into choosing the photos.

This Friday’s story is called, Two in the Bush, and as you might guess from the title, two women get spanked.  Jayne and her friend, Julie, have a discipline relationship with Jayne’s husband, Barry.  Yes you read that right.  Jayne’s friend also is spanked by Jayne’s husband.  Go check out this new spanking story, and don’t forget to watch New Beginnings for more Fantasy Fridays.

This isn’t a spanking story review or a spanking story, but I had to put the word out on Thomas’s Fantasy Fridays Elections (that’s what I’m calling them).   Thomas has been expanding his Fantasy Friday stories into more full length spanking stories.  He just did one called Poor Service, and it was excellent.

By going to his post called Favorite Friday Fantasies,  you can help him choose his next full length story.  Just read through the choices he has listed, and post a comment telling him your favorite.  I have to say after reading over the list of choices that Thomas is one creative guy.  I really couldn’t choose one, but finally decided to just close my eyes and pick the first one that hit my eyes.  (Yes, really.)  I chose Room Service.

Take a look.  I’m sure there is something there you’d like to see written into a full story.  Don’t forget to leave a comment!

Before Christmas I wrote about choosing between a spanking story membership site or purchasing individual spanking story ebooks. From the email responses I received, I discovered that there is a good case for buying both. I did buy some spanking story ebooks as a Christmas gift to myself. Now, I’m hooked on them. If you’ve never considered buying a spanking ebook, here are a few reasons to consider trying it.

1. Ebooks are more reasonably priced than print copies. A download of just about any ebook is cheaper than ordering a print copy, many times by as much as half.

2. Ebooks are easy to download and read on your computer. Most ebooks come in Adobe PDF format and can be opened on your computer using a free Adobe reader. The Adobe Reader is so popular most people already have it installed on their computer.

3. Ebooks offer discretion. If I want to read a spanking story sitting in my family room with kids in the house, I can’t have the cover of “Naughty Spanking Stories” visible to them. With an ebook, I’m just working on my laptop, and no one is the wiser.

4. Ebooks don’t take up space or get left hanging around the house. This is similar to discretion mentioned above. I’ve bought romance novels that have some pretty “adult” looking covers (see my post on Big Spankable Asses ), and I’ve learned not to leave these books out in the open. With an ebook I never have to worry about that. Even if you share a computer with someone else, you can set up a folder for your ebooks and use a password to protect it.

Working on my own spanking stories, I have to remember that the basics of good fiction writing should always be first in the story.  It’s easy to get caught up in the unique elements of a spanking-themed story.  It isn’t just about the spanking.  For a spanking story that a reader will remember and hopefully return to read again, think about these quick tips to improve your writing.

1. Show Don’t Tell.  This one is drilled into any student of creative writing.  Think about how you show the spanking scene.

“Jake slowly lowered her panties and delivered several sharp slaps to her bare bottom.”

Or

“Please, Jake, Don’t take off my panties.  I promise to be good.  OWWW!” Annie gasped at the first painful cracks on her bared bottom.

2. Create An Intriguing Title.  Yes, I’m guilty of this one.  This is the first thing the reader sees as she scans a web page.  Which would you choose to read tonight?

The Next Door Neighbors

Or

Emily’s Learns An Unfair Lesson

Don’t you want to know what’s unfair about the lesson?

3. Know Your Audience.   Even in writing spanking stories, keep your focus.  Don’t try to write a story that pleases every flavor of spanking fans.  Don’t try to cover discipline, erotic, maintenance, M/F, F/F, F/M, consensual, nonconsensual spankings all in one story.  Be true to the characters you have created and your readers.

4. Spelling and Grammar Do Count.  Even though this is the internet that doesn’t mean you can throw out all the rules.  Quality writing still wins over poor writing.  When I find a writer who writes well, I’ll make sure I read everything she’s written.  Your readers will notice, and they will show you their appreciation with loyalty to your stories.

5.  Proofread, Proofread, Proofread.  I’m guilty of this too.  It’s hard to proofread your own work.  Whenever possible, ask someone to read through the story before you publish it to the web.

I’m sure you can think of many other good tips for writing spanking stories.  Leave a comment and share a few with us, and don’t forget to subscribe to our RSS feed!
